BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1627-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Philip IV. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details.KM-17A; Cal-Type-279. Weight: 13.66 gms. This cob is rather rustic and crude, with a chaotic strike and corroded surfaces. Plenty of central detail is still present, however, and the piece possesses a certain charm. Though the coin has been dated to 1627 by PCGS, a definitive determination is unfortunately impossible as the date is illegible after the digit "2". The style and transposition of the castles and lions, however, indicates that 1627 or 1628 are the most likely dates. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here. From the Pat Johnson Collection.
Ex: Paul Karon Collection (Ponterio 42 - 3/1990) Lot # 329.
