Fr. 41. 1862 $2 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. A lovely example of this Civil War era deuce. This example of the first federally issued $2 design type presents exceptional quality, essentially as nice as the day it was printed. The inks are sharp on this Deuce, with the dark forest green underprint and ruby red overprints standing out with fantastic appeal. This note hails from the, derogatory at the time of issuance, Greenback series launched in 1862. The engraving was done by NBNC, however ABNC and NBNC shared in the printing duties. Interestingly, Chittenden and Spinners signatures were printed with a separate plate in special ink.
