Ltd. was a British-owned company that was registered in Hong Kong, but exclusively served the Shanghai market. It was founded by J. A. Fredericks, with J. D. Shatler serving in the role of General Manager. It is the signed initials of the latter that make an appearance on the cent denomination of the companys third series of issues, as is the case here.</em>
