(t) CHINA--REPUBLIC. Bank of China. 100 Yuan, 1941. P-96a. Solid Serial Number. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.(S/M#C294-265). Printed by ABNC. An incredibly difficult vertical format note to acquire from the 1941 Bank of China series. Just ten examples have been graded by PMG, with this example being towards the top of the population report. We have yet to offer this type to our bidders in our auction history, which is a testament to the scarcity of this catalog number. A quick glance at auction records reveals that this type has not crossed the auction block at any major U.S. auction houses. This rarity offers broad margins and fully original paper. The ink is vivid, with a colorful guilloche at lower center below the portrait of Sun Yat-sen. On the reverse is a vignette of the Temple of Heaven in Peking. As an added treat, this nearly-Gem note boasts a solid serial number of "B999999". PMG Pop 1/3 Finer.
