CHINA. Yunnan. Tael, ND (1943-44). Hanoi Mint. NGC MS-62.L&M-435; K-939; KM-A3; WS-0704; Lec-325. Variety with small stags head. Struck for use in the French Indo-China opium trade. As with almost all other examples, this piece is somewhat incompletely struck, yet it far exceeds the norm and dazzles with an olive tone throughout that intensifies on the reverse. Some as made die lines are seen, though very little in the way of friction or marks are noticed, an impressive feat for the type. A resolute luster permeates throughout the entire flan, and it reaches outwards to greet the eyes.
