SCOTLAND. 60 Shillings, 1691. Edinburgh Mint. William & Mary. PCGS AU-55. S-5642; KM-134. Nearly unknown in this condition, with the next closest certified example merely being a VF-20 example certified by NGC. The TREMENDOUS RARITY of this coin to be preserved in this condition almost beggars belief and should stun any British or Scottish collectors. Wonderfully struck, with a rich application of beautifully engraved detail that is only moderately affected by wear. A rich mint glossiness remains, and the deeply colored flan adds an exceptional depth of charm to the surfaces. A phenomenal piece, and a lot that should engender spirited bidding, as it is unlikely that many other examples of similar condition will come to market. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click here. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
