GREAT BRITAIN. Pound, 1642. Oxford Mint. Charles I. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details. S-2940; N-2398; Brooker-860 (same dies); Morrieson dies-B/2. Declaration type. Weight: 119.09 gms. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; plumes to right, pile of arms below; Reverse: Declaration in two lines between two parallel lines; three plumes above. Despite its details designation, with some scratches in the fields meant to smooth out some roughness, this example nevertheless retains solid overall detail and sports a robust cabinet tone. As evidence of its rather hefty and imposing nature, numerous edge splits are also noted, as the metal itself cracked in a few spots long ago due in large part to its oversized aspect. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click here. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
