GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, ND (1645-46). London Mint; mm: sun. Charles I. PCGS AU-55. S-2761; N-2199; Brooker-275 (same dies). Group 5. Struck under Parliament. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; Reverse: Garnished oval coat-of-arms. It is rather difficult to discern where the scant amount of gentle handling ends and the minor striking weakness--typical for the type--begins, leaving this as a premium-quality example for the grade assigned. Alluring cabinet tone radiates throughout, with some charming hints of brilliance evident in the protected areas. Undoubtedly VERY RARE in this great state of preservation. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click here. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
Ex: F.
