GREAT BRITAIN. Laurel, ND (1619-20). London Mint; mm: spur rowel. James I. PCGS AU-55. S-2637; Fr-242; N-2111. Third coinage, first bust. Weight: 8.91 gms. Obverse: Laureate, draped, and armored bust left; XX (mark of value) to right; Reverse: Square-topped coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; crown above. Rather brilliant and blazing, this near-Mint State specimen entices with a golden-yellow allure to the color and solid overall strike quality, as seen in the intricate nature to the detail in the monarchs beard. Throughout, the Ns in the legend are retrograde. For completeness, a small "в" countermark is observed on the obverse, just below the truncation of the bust. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click here. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
