1847-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. A richly original, olive-orange example with plenty of frosty mint luster remaining to both sides. In the absence of all but light wear, this coin offers uncommonly bold detail for an issue that is usually seen with no more than an average strike. The 1847-C has the highest mintage (84,151 pieces) among Charlotte Mint half eagles, and it is the easiest issue in this mintmarked gold series to locate in lower grades through EF. High grade survivors, however, are rarer than those of the 1849-C, 1850-C, 1852-C, 1853-C, 1857-C and 1858-C. Expect fierce competition for this well produced and exceptionally well preserved Choice AU. PCGS# 8233. NGC ID: 25TN. PCGS Population: 20; 27 finer, 12 of which are Mint State (MS-65 finest).<p>CAC Population: 13 in all AU grades. From the Fairmont Collection - JBR Set.
