1835 Classic Head Half Eagle. Missing Insert Label (NGC). Experimental Slab. About Uncirculated. Housed in a generation 6 NGC holder used in 1996 and characterized by the addition of a separating line or "keyed" insert that divides the grading label and coin while retaining the full width hologram on the reverse as seen on previous versions. The grading label is missing entirely on this experimental slab and it quite notable for the unusual coin housed within - a Classic Head half eagle. The coin itself has straw-honey patina and is boldly defined with AU details and pleasing lustrous surfaces.<p>NGC confirms the experimental nature of the slab and that the party who owned this was helping them in the development of new holders. PCGS# 8173.
