1999 Lincoln Cent--Triple Struck and Cupped--MS-64 RD (PCGS). Portions of two strikes are readily evident, although one is distended, and the other is partial and further obscured by underlying zinc. The third impression is far off center with just a trace evident at the upper left obverse border of the distended strike. In addition to spreading the copper plating thin, the multiple strikes have resulted in a pronounced indentation in the planchet, as made, and thereby explaining the "cupped" designation from PCGS. Only one date is discernible, and then again just the digits 199. This is a visually dramatic Mint error on a modern Lincoln cent, and also a rare one, so interested parties would be wise to prepare for stiff competition in bidding.
