Lot of (2) 1936 Cleveland Centennial/Great Lakes Exposition, Mint State (Uncertified), housed in Original Wynette Leatherette Double Holder with Notarization as 36th and 37th Examples Struck with Accompanying Envelopes. <p>The obverse and reverse of the coins facing up in the holder are lustrous and subtly toned with light gold and wisps of blue while the sides facing down are deeply toned in mottled golden brown, blue and rose from long-term storage in the original holder. The holder itself is quite clean and nice with no faults to speak of. The notarized certificate affixed to the back is quite sharp and identifies these as the 36th and 37th examples struck at the Philadelphia Mint. It is signed by Thomas Melish as Treasurer for the Cleveland Centennial commemorative Coin Association and the notary whose embossed seal appears at the left. In addition, an envelope with typed description of these coins and some background information is included with a signature of Thomas Melish along with the two small envelopes simply stamped "36" and "37" that are referenced on the larger envelope.<p><p>A scarce and very desirable pair of Cleveland Commemoratives. The first 200 coins from the dies were specifically caught in gloved hands to ensure optimal preservation and noted as to their number in sequence.
