The First National Bank of Thorndale opened in 1901 and was well-managed for 32 years before liquidating in 1933. Whether it was sound management or just being in a small town, no other currency issuing banks competed with the FNB of Thorndale, making it the only national bank in town. Seven large and three small notes are recorded. This is one of just three 1882 Date Back $10s available to collectors from the bank, and the only example listed in the census to have appeared at public auction.
