1892 Columbian Exposition Badge worn by those who accompanied the Liberty Bell to the Exposition. Gold and Enamels. About Uncirculated, missing bell. 32 mm x 35 mm. 10.12 grams. Ornate badge with inscription PHILADELPHIA COUNCILS around the periphery of a white and blue enameled gold badge. In the center is a medallion with the Philadelphia City Arms topped with keystone with a clear jewel at its center. Thirteen stars surround the arms. A miniature representation of the Liberty Bell would have been suspended below, but is missing here and not included. The reverse has a hinged pin for wear as well as the inscription WORLDS COLUMBIAN / EXPOSITION / CHICAGO. / 1892 on the back of the central medallion. There are no makers or fineness marks, but the piece seems to be made mostly of gold, and that is the fabric that would be expected for an item of this sort at that time.
