1843-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Large Date, Plain 4. Winter-1, the only known dies. EF-40 (PCGS). OGH. An attractive golden-yellow piece with faint olive undertones and, at the upper left reverse, a splash of coppery-rose tinting. This may be the more readily obtainable date logotype 1843-C $2.50, but the Large Date is scarce in an absolute sense. No more than 350 or so coins are believed extant from a mintage of 23,076 pieces. PCGS# 7728. NGC ID: 25GN.
