Providence, Rhode Island. Mount Vernon Bank. 1850s $10. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. (RI-115 G4) Durand 1691. Plate A. Imprint of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, New York/New England Bank Note Co., Boston. Central vignette of nine cherubs presenting gifts of bounty to reclining Prosperity with ten Gold Dollar coins. Small portraits at the lower corners. Ornate lathe work at the upper corners. Red Protector "TEN" in center. Notes on the bank are not rare but are often poorly cut. This is well margined and one of the very nicest we have seen. Another classic type and an excellent foundational note for an emerging collection of numismatic topical vignettes.
