1909 Five-Piece Proof Set (NGC). The Proof Sets of 1909 are an historic issue, marked by the first appearance of Victor David Brenners Lincoln design on the cent. Though intensely sought-after upon their release, many of the coins were spent or otherwise mishandled through the tough times of World War I and the Great Depression, greatly reducing the number of survivors. Nicely matched in older-style NGC holders and off the market since 1995, this five-piece set represents an important opportunity. The coins are individually certified and most have CAC approval, emphasizing the superior quality. <p><strong>1909 Lincoln Cent. Proof-65 RD (NGC).</strong> A stunning Matte Proof Gem with virtually flawless surfaces and intense luster throughout. The obverse features a blend of sandy-gold and tangerine-orange hues, while the reverse is vibrantly toned in honey-gold and ivory color. Lovely to examine in-hand.</p><p><strong>1909 Liberty Head Nickel. Proof-66 (NGC). CAC. </strong>A dusting of original golden patina is illuminated by intense underlying luster across this Gem Proof. Sharply defined with a satin texture on the devices and a watery reflectivity in the fields.</p><p><strong>1909 Barber Dime. Proof-66 (NGC). CAC. </strong>A lovely little jewel with incredible reflectivity in the fields and rich, frosty luster on the devices. The Platinum-white brilliance at the centers is framed by rich bands of golden-bronze and sapphire-blue at the borders. Exceptional in every respect and certainly approaching a full Cameo designation. </p><p><strong>1909 Barber Quarter. Proof-66 (NGC). CAC. </strong>A dazzling Gem Proof with intense luster. Subtle hints of magenta, bronze and sapphire toning accent the borders while the centers show a snowy-white brilliance. Sharply defined with a deep reflectivity in the fields that is very close to a full Came designation. </p><p><strong>1909 Barber Half Dollar. Proof-66 (NGC). CAC. </strong>Mirrored reflectivity in the fields frames satiny and undisturbed devices on this gorgeous Proof.
