CHILE. 5 Peso, 1927-So. Santiago Mint. PCGS MS-64. KM-173.1. Wide "5" variety. A well struck near-Gem SCARCE issue with full cartwheel luster and just the slightest almond hue.
According to the "Standard Catalog of World Coins", 436,510 of the 965,000 minted coins were melted down between the two varieties in 1932. While it is unknown which of the two were melted down, it certainly creates a higher demand for the issue.
