ECUADOR. La Caja Central de Emision y Amortizacion. 50 Sucres, 1927. P-71. PMG Very Fine 20. Printed by W&S. Dated June 1st, 1927. This note last sold in Bowers & Ponterio 2004 NYINC sale, making it over a decade since this elusive example has made an auction appearance. This series of notes was issued by the Ecuadorian Government on unissued remainders taken from private banks, and was a precursor to the Banco Central del Ecuador. The overprint is found on the reverse in black ink, with overprinting also found on the obverse of the note. This denomination is incredibly difficult to obtain, and we would not be surprised if our high estimate is met or exceeded. PMG Pop 1/No Others Graded.
