India - Colonial. BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AV sovereign, 1918-I, KM-A525, NGC graded MS64. The fifth branch of the Royal Mint was established in a section of the Bombay Mint on December 21, 1917. This was a war-time measure, its purpose being to strike into sovereigns the gold blanks supplied by the Bombay (Mumbai) and other Indian mints. The Bombay sovereigns bear the mint mark I and were struck from August 15, 1918, to April 22, 1919. The branch mint was closed in May 1919.
