CT-33. Confederate Currency. 1861 $5. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Contemporary Counterfeit. No number. Plate J. Imprint of Leggett, Keatinge & Ball, Richmond, VA. Memminger at center. Wide bottom margin shows "Fac Simile Confederate Note." This is the most gorgeous example we have seen of this contemporary counterfeit. Typically these are seen in Very Good to Very Fine grade with chips, tears, etc. Shockingly there are two 66 EPQ notes graded by PMG. The inks are exemplary and the margins wide on all sides. Quite a lovely example for a Confederate type set.
