CC-93. Continental Currency. January 14, 1779. $30. PMG Uncirculated 61. No. 56626. Signed by Gaither and Watkins. Vignette of a tomb topped by a wreath. Latin motto SI RECTE FACIES, which Newman translates "If you act righteously, you will be honored after death." Printed by Hall and Sellers 1779. PMG notes "Previously Mounted, Toned." Somewhat surprisingly, the PMG Population Report confirms what this cataloger has suspected for years; the $30 denomination from this issue is actually somewhat scarcer than a lot of the more commonly accepted "tough" notes from this series. Their Pop Report also shows that this is one of only eight uncirculated pieces from this issue. A broadly margined and well centered example which, despite its flaws, faces up well.
