1889 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-65+ (PCGS). A superior quality coin for both the issue and assigned grade, this lovely 1889 quarter eagle would do justice to the finest type or date set. Vivid reddish-rose and deep orange colors blankets silky smooth surfaces, with full mint luster on both sides. The strike is sharp in all but a few isolated areas, and the eye appeal is exceptionally strong. From a mintage of 17,600 circulation strikes, survivors of which are scarce in all grades. Most 1889 quarter eagles in numismatic hands grade MS-62, MS-63 or MS-64 with Gems such as this rare from a condition standpoint.
