1879 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-63 (PCGS). Boldly to sharply struck with a universally reflective finish evident as the surfaces dip into a light. There is evidence of an old, light wipe to explain the Proof-63 grade from PCGS, but the surfaces have retoned naturally over time and now display warm flint-gray patina with iridescent champagne-pink undertones. The Proof mintage for this second year Morgan dollar issue was 1,100 pieces, survivors of which are equally popular for specimen type and date purposes.
