1796 Liberty Cap Cent. S-89. Rarity-3. Fine-12 (PCGS). A generally bold Fine with sharper detail remaining to many of Libertys hair tresses and much of the wreath on the reverse. The dark copper surfaces are quite smooth and seem to lack the normally-seen porosity, and there are no sizeable marks. The final year, 1796 is one of the scarcer dates in the Liberty Cap cent series and examples are popular with collectors at all levels of preservation. From the Rockford Collection - Part 3. Earlier from our (Stacks) Greater New York Numismatic Convention Sale of April 1988, lot 126. Lot tag included.
