1885 Washington Monument Medal. First Obverse. Musante GW-1003, Baker N-322, var., HK-145a. Rarity-7. Bronzed Copper. SP-64 (PCGS). 44 mm. A visually impressive medal struck on a thick bronzed flan. Deep autumn-brown and mahogany-bronze surfaces are gently marbled in tone, but boldly reflective through the fields in sharp contrast to the lustrous devices. A scarcely seen medal in any form, but rare bronzed. This composition was not listed in the Rulau-Fuld revision, though it was known to Hibler and Kappen.
