(ca. 1800?) Funeral Urn Button in the Style of Washington Inaugural Buttons. Copper or Brass. Fine, Environmental Damage. 33 mm. 99.38 grains. Shank missing. An ornate scalloped border surrounds a design of rays which, in turn, surrounds a central motif of a funeral urn. Dominant deep golden-brown color with intermingled crimson and overall roughness explaining our qualifier. A band of deeper charcoal color bisects the right front. A curious piece that, although undated and not previously seen by us, is of a style and motif that would suggest association with the death of our nations first president.
