From the beginning, these issues were much larger, heavier, thicker, as well as being overall better made than the regular circulating Cash coinage. The sole purpose of these massive talismans was to be an offering for the God of Wealth and were hung with red silk and tassels in the mints spirit hall. It was believed that they contained magical powers that would protect the mint while bringing fortune and wealth to the treasury. Typically, these were made to commemorate the opening of new casting furnaces to produce regular Cash coins.</em>
