清代翠羽诰命凤冠明清时期诰封制度发展非常完备，一至五品官员授以诰命，六至九品授以敕命，夫人从夫品级，故世有「诰命夫人」之说。凤冠是诰封制度的集中反映，明朝皇后至九品文官妻皆可穿戴，按地位、等级高低在颜色、花纹、装饰和用料上有所不同。此件冠饰运用花丝、镶嵌、錾雕、点翠、穿系等工艺将珍珠、宝石等不同色泽的物件点缀其中，嵌饰龙、凤、珠宝花、翠云、翠叶，构成金龙升腾奔跃在翠云之上，翠凤展翅飞翔在珠宝花叶之中的景象，珠光宝气、富丽堂皇，非一般工匠所能达到。诰命凤冠採用中国传统的金银首饰制作工艺——「花丝镶嵌」和「点翠工艺」。先用金或镏金的金属做成不同图案的底座，再将翠鸟羽毛使用传统定型成平片状，根据所需要的形状裁切后粘接在底托之上，经过订翠、裁型、点铺、压合、整理几个步骤后完成，形成吉祥精美图案。翠鸟羽毛具有特殊的明蓝、宝蓝颜色，加之羽丝细密、排列成片状后，就会在表面呈现丝绢般的光泽，形成带有柔和光感的蓝色或蓝紫色填色效果。用点翠工艺制作的首饰，具有光泽感好、不褪色、色彩艳丽的特点。本品阔30厘米，深28厘米，高26厘米(不连流苏)/73厘米(连流苏)。 Qing Dynasty, An Imperial Tian-Tsui Chaplet, cir. late Qing dynasty, The mandate system of the Ming and Qing Dynasties were mature and well developed. Government officials were divided into nine ranks and the wives of these officials adorned special chaplet accessories as a reflection of their status. The higher the government rank of the husband, the chaplet would bear more intricate, decorative and lavish designs.This chaplet embodies the traditional Chinese techniques in the craftsmanship of accessories Filigree Inlay and Tian-tsui ("dotting with kingfishers"). The process begins with creating the base using gold or an alloy of gold. Next, the feathers are attached one by one onto the metal base and are then trimmed as fit according to the design. This involves a multitude of procedures from planning and designing to the fine craftsmanship required to attach and refine the decorations. This particular type of Tian-tsui chaplet involves the usage of jewellery with bright blue and sapphire colours to be put together with bird feathers in a detailed and interwoven manner, evoking a sense of silk-like fineness that shines with a soft hues of blue or violet blue colours.
