AEGINA. AR Drachm (5.83 gms), ca. 404-338 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5. cf. HGC-4, 444 (A-I on obv.); BMC-195. Obverse: Tortoise with segmented shell; Reverse: "Thin skew" incuse pattern; AI-Γ in upper incuses, dolphin upward in lower right. Exceptionally quality for the type, this charming and elegant specimen features a gunmetal gray tone throughout, with a fairly well centered obverse and some remaining brilliance and hints of iridescence in the reverse incuses. Undoubtedly one of the finer examples of the type that one is likely to encounter. From the Collection of a Gentleman.
