1855 Round 25 Cents. BG-226A. Rarity-5. Liberty Head. MS-63 (PCGS). Blushes of pinkish-apricot iridescence enhance pale gold patina on both sides of this satiny and boldly struck example. This is a scarce and sometimes "confusing" variety that has been variously called BG-227A, BG-227W and BG-227, Die State II in the past, and is now attributed as BG-226A. The present example is finer than the PCGS MS-62 Jay Roe specimen and is sure to have great appeal for specialists. From the Oregon Collection.
