民国十八年孙中山像背三帆壹圆银样币。美国版。杭州造币厂。美国费城铸币厂设计，杭州铸币厂制造，十分赏心悦目，每逢面市均会引发藏家激烈追捧。霜化图文与平滑底版间形成鲜明对比，背面底版稍有轻微包浆，致失通透。整体诱人，定获藏家青眼。1929年，中国财政部决定以孙中山肖像设计新国币。计有世界著名的义大利、日本、英国、美国及奥地利五厂送样币。样稿完成后，各国将模具及少数样币运至中国。

The American design from the Philadelphia Mint, but struck in China at the Hangchow Mint. This highly attractive and brilliant flashy pattern is always heavily sought after when coming to market, depicting the American rendition of the expressive portrait of Dr. Sun Yat sen. The contrasting surface textures between the devices which are frosty and the fields which exhibit much reflectivity, though the open areas of the reverse are slightly muted from light delicate patina, offer an eye catching appearance sure to grab the attention of many collectors.

In 1929, the Chinese Ministry of Finance ordered a new design for the then proposed Dr. Sun Yat-sen Dollar. Patterns were submitted from the worlds five leading mints: Italy, Japan, England, United States and Austria. Upon completion, the various mints shipped the dies as well as samples of the new patterns to China.
