District of Columbia, Washington. Bank of the United States. November 25, 1852 $3. PCGS Currency Very Good 8.The Newman collection cataloger described this as follows: "This is another great District title, which took advantage by implying an official sanction. Like many District banks, it was short-lived and this is perhaps the rarest denomination. The curved title is at the right two-thirds with a portrait underneath. At the bottom left is an eagle with shield. The upper left has a counter supported by cherubs. Honest circulation, and a difficult note to obtain." It is a challenging note that first sold for $376 in the October 2015 sale.
