1809 Classic Head Cent. S-280, the only known dies. Rarity-2. VF-25.Glossy medium brown with steel highlights. Several tiny nicks on the obverse, and a few heavier ones on the reverse. No roughness though and the overall appearance is smooth and sharp. Intermediate die state with modest fading of the peripheral detail to the borders. A high quality example of this scarce date. Accompanied by an intriguing old envelope which references a similar coin having sold in the November 1906 Geoffrey Charlton Adams sale. The envelope likely dates to not long after that.PCGS# 36466.From the Bill Woytasek Collection. Earlier ex Del Bland; Tom Reynolds.
