Host coin About Good.Frederick Marquand (1799-1882) was a silversmith and jeweler who first worked in Savannah, GA from 1820 to 1826 for his cousin Josiah Penfield. By 1829 he had established his own business in New York City, located at 166 Broadway. He was partnered with his brother Isaac prior to 1830 as MARQUAND & BROTHER. From 1830 to 1833 he was partnered with both of his brothers Isaac and Josiah, as well as Erastus O. Tompkins, now named MARQUAND & BROTHERS. After 1833, Henry Gurdon Marquand joined the firm now named MARQUAND & CO. In 1852 Frederick retired and was succeeded by Ball, Black & Co., the members of which had been clerks employed by him.
