Among the finest seen, this example exhibits a few insignificant instances of handling, however nothing is noteworthy considering its age. The ink signature is fairly intact with faded areas and loss primarily contained to the high points. The hammer marks, though a bit unevenly spaced, deviate from other Obans from this era, with their arrangement being in columns instead of the haphazard application normally encountered. Interestingly, the style of the hammer marks, as well as signature, more closely resembles those found on the later Keicho era issues, which adds a layer of sophistication and intrigue to this particular issue. The Kiri emblems and official stamps are all unevenly applied, each with varying degrees of flatness, while the control mark on the reverse is bold and clear. The surfaces display a lovely pale gold hue with areas of richer coloration near the edges of the obverse and mottled sunset hued patination on the reverse that contributes to its pleasing appearance and overall desirability.
