This wholesome survivor exhibits a good strike and nice honest wear displaying light gray tone with areas of richer coloration near the rims. The obverse bares an unattributed countermark in the form of a detailed fowl, perhaps a cock or male Ptarmigan (native to England), but for an unknown reason. This enigmatic piece has lots of character sure to pique the interest of countermark enthusiasts worthy of further in depth research to solidify attribution.
