The Pali inscription reads "Gentle mother, guard the prince born from thy body. Tis but the singular child of life, and even as life dares abandon its post, with the child it is as it was before. / Let the being incite feelings of mercy and love where it goes as here there are few. Look to all the living creatures in this world. It is thus."
