NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: Japanese Occupation, 1942-1944, tin 10 sen, NE2604 (1944), Y-66, dai nippon ("Great Japan") above value & date in Japanese imperial year // shadow puppet between two stars, much silvery luster, NGC graded MS62. Struck at the Osaka Mint for use in the Netherlands East Indies. The war situation had worsened to the point that shipping the coins became virtually impossible. Consequently, none of these coins ever reached the East Indies and almost the entire issue was lost or remelted at the mint.
