ROMAN REPUBLIC. T. Carisius. AR Denarius (3.81 gms), Rome Mint, 46 B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 4/5. Cr-464/2; CRI-70; Syd-982a. Obverse: Head of Juno Moneta right; Reverse: Implements for coining money: anvil die with garlanded punch die above, tongs and hammer on either side; all within laurel wreath. An incredible Mint State survivor from antiquity, this type celebrates the coining of money itself, featuring the tools involved in the minting process on the reverse. Though somewhat off-center on said reverse, it features a subtle gunmetal gray tone and a good deal of shimmering luster.
