RUSSIA. Silver Ruble Novodel, 1810. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander I. NGC PROOF-62. KM-Unlisted; Bit-H684; S-2605. A fairly RARE pattern issue, what this type lacks in design elements, it more than makes up with shimmering brilliance on the obverse and vibrant, colorful toning on the reverse. Some scattered, subtle marks inhibit a higher, choice designation, but nothing is distracting to the eye. In particular, the marriage on the reverse between the peripheral, accentuating cobalt nature and the violet in the fields pairs wonderfully. An overall engaging issue from the middle part of the reign of Alexander I. Ex: Gorny & Mosch 149 (3/2006) Lot # 6168.
