RUSSIA. Silver Ruble Novodel, 1801-AI. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander I. NGC AU-55. KM-Pn54; Bit-632; S-2497. A classic Russian pattern issue, this VERY RARE specimen exhibits little in the way of handling, with numerous minor, unobtrusive bag marks accounting for the less-than-Mint designation. The surfaces offer a deep gunmetal gray allure full of original appeal, while a pleasing degree of brilliance remains in many of the protected areas. While PCGS hasnt certified any of this type, NGC has seen just one finer.
