1893 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-62 PL (PCGS). Lovely honey-rose surfaces offer strong contrast between frosty design elements and well mirrored fields. With a generous mintage of 1,528,120 circulation strikes and wide representation in repatriations of U.S. gold coins from European bank hoards, the 1893 is an understandably common issue in most Mint State grades. In the Prooflike category, and our multiple offerings in this sale notwithstanding, this issue is currently scarce as far as certified examples are concerned.
