CC-30. Continental Currency. February 17, 1776. $8. PCGS Currency About New 50 PPQ. No. 31144. Signed by Howard and Leech. Emblem of a harp with 13 strings of different sizes, representing the 13 colonies. Latin motto MAJORA MINORIBUS CONSONANT, which Newman translates "The large colonies and the small colonies are in harmony." Deep inking and bold signatures are rather prominent. Wide margins and excellent centering give this lovely Continental great visual appeal. The Newman note was a nice PCGS Currency Choice About New 58PPQ. That piece topped the $750 figure over five years ago. Todays Continental market can only be described as "exuberant."
