1874 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. Proof-67 (PCGS). Blended pastels of pink, gold, and powder blue adorn both sides of this smooth, virtually pristine Superb Gem. Fully struck and satiny, the devices contrast beautifully with an icy reflectivity in the fields. While not a major rarity in an absolute sense the 1874, like all other Proof nickel three-cent issues, is highly elusive with the combination of technical quality and eye appeal offered here. This example is among the very finest known of 700 struck, sitting at the top of the PCGS Population Report.
