1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-31. Rarity-1. Head of 1794. EF Details--Excessive Corrosion (PCGS). Plenty of sharp striking detail remains to tempt the budget minded collector, only the letters IT in UNITED absent among the major design elements, the result of a clogged die. The surfaces are generally medium copper-brown, although swirls of charcoal-russet are scattered about and help to explain the PCGS qualifier. Areas of roughness and shallow pitting are also noted, but we see no mentionable marks apart from a couple of light scrapes at the lower left obverse border, trivial edge nick on the reverse at 4 oclock. Sheldon-31 is one of the popular Marred Field varieties of the 1794 Liberty Cap cent. Noyes Die State D/A.
