The main part of the badge is shield-shaped and engraved PRESIDENT / ROUMANIEN- / AMERICAN / No. (handshake) 81 / OR CHODOSH LODGE / I.O.A.I. on the front, and PRESENTED / JULY 3rd 1904 engraved on the reverse - which is also stamped 14K. This part is suspended from a hinged pinback bar engraved with the name of the lodge president S. SOLSBERG on the front. These lodges typically provided social, political, and protective (insurance) needs to the group they represented.
