Central reverse inscribed to the recipient HALL CARROLL & CO. / FOR / BEST IRON SAFE / CINCINNATI 1860. A lovely piece with prooflike fields, satiny design elements, and pretty iridescent outlines to many of the design elements. This rarely seen U.S. Mint medal was first struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1858, and gold, silver and bronze examples were produced until the Society ran out of funds in 1861.
