CHINA. Szechuan-Tibet. Rupee, ND (1911-33). PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield.L&M-359; K-589; KM-Y-3.2; WS-0758. Variety with collar and vertical rosette. Intensely attractive and vibrant, this stunning near Gem is about as alluring as one can hope to encounter. Affirming this RARITY, PCGS has graded just three others at a higher level. Mostly argent and shimmering, it also offers some rather iridescent color near a portion of the peripheries. For another intensely toned example of this type, compare to a PCGS MS-63 in our May 2020 Hong Kong auction (lot 42438), which sold for the staggering total of $20,400 [!] on an estimate of $1,800-$2,400.
